Patrick Holmes is Senior Policy Advisor for Resilient Forests at American Forests. He most recently served as Montana Governor Steve Bullock’s Natural Resources Policy advisor, where he led a variety of policy initiatives spanning the Departments of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Environmental Quality and Natural Resources and Conservation. Prior to joining Governor Bullock’s administration, Patrick was a senior advisor and Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary of Natural Resources and Environment at USDA, where he supported the Under Secretary and Secretary and led department-wide initiatives spanning climate change, environmental justice, wildfire, conservation finance and innovative wood products. Patrick and his wife Tara and son Cormac live in Helena, MT. In addition to his work with American Forests, he consults for a limited suite of public, nonprofit and philanthropic clients on topics spanning climate and energy, wildlife, recreation, rural community economic development and wildfire resilience.
