Leana Weissberg manages American Forests’ ongoing landscape implementation and statewide coordination efforts in California. Leana has been immersed in forestry and fire in northern California for over 6 years, working as a research fellow at the UC Berkeley Center for Law, Energy & the Environment, and as a forester with the Bureau of Land Management and Sierra Institute for Community & Environment. Past experiences include planning and implementing forest management projects, including post-fire recovery; coordinating a regional forest collaborative; conducting research on and employing collaborative tools; and developing frameworks to better assess wildfire impacts. She holds a Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry. Leana lives in northern California and spends her free time exploring the Sierra Nevada mountains by bike, foot, and ski.
