New York, New York, July 30, 2015 – SFE Energy, Inc. (“SFE”) offers affordable and effective carbon offset programs to its customers. Consumers that opt for a Green Electricity or Eco Gas program not only get peace of mind for securing their commodity supply cost, but also reassurance over helping to eliminate their carbon footprint.

Additionally, to support the environmental efforts of our customers, SFE has partnered with American Forests to plant more than 12,000 trees on behalf of SFE customers who selected Green Electricity in 2014. Tree-planting is considered one of the most effective means of drawing excess carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and reducing the buildup of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.

Forests planted by American Forests not only help to sequester greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, but their many and varied “ReLeaf” projects reforest lands damaged or destroyed by wildfires,  and restore habitats for a variety of rare and endangered species, such as the Nashville warbler in Maryland, the barred owl in New Jersey, and the Goose Lake Redband trout and spotted owl in California.

“We applaud American Forests for its long-time advocacy for the protection of America’s forests, and are proud to be a partner in their diverse array of “ReLeaf” projects,” says Gerry Haggarty, President of SFE. “Protecting the environment remains a key priority for our company, and we’ll continue to work with our customers and our partners to implement solutions that benefit the community. The trees we plant  on behalf of our customers will benefit these communities for years to come.”

“American Forests deeply appreciates SFE Energy’s commitment to meet the climate challenges of today’s world head-on, but also for carrying the message to its customers about how day-to-day lifestyle changes can make an important difference to the health of their communities and to our planet,” said Lea Sloan, VP of Communications.
