Kristina Bartowitz helps manage forest carbon modeling projects at American Forests. Prior to joining American Forests, Kristina worked on conservation projects across the world, most recently on post-fire wildlife and forest recovery research in the North Cascades. She has nearly a decade of experience working in western U.S. forests, with expertise in climate, wildfire, and management impacts on forest dynamics and carbon cycling. Kristina holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and master’s degree in conservation biology from the University of Wisconsin, and a PhD in natural resources from the University of Idaho.
