Anne-Marie Fitzgerald leads the revenue team at American Forests, helping to secure the philanthropic, corporate, foundation and public support needed to sustain and expand the organization’s national impact. Over the course of a three-decade career in the nonprofit sector, she has raised more than $1 billion in combined philanthropic and government funding to advance nonprofit engagement initiatives. Prior to joining American Forests, Anne-Marie served as Chief Operating and Advancement Officer at Facing History & Ourselves, an international educational organization dedicated to combating racism, antisemitism, and prejudice while strengthening democratic values. Earlier in her career, she served as Executive Director of Reach Out and Read, a nationally recognized pediatric literacy organization serving millions of children and families across the United States. Throughout her career, Anne-Marie has specialized in organizational growth, operational leadership, strategic planning, and revenue diversification, helping mission-driven organizations scale both their programs and long-term sustainability. She has also advised national nonprofits on growth strategy, fundraising, governance, and organizational resilience, and has been a featured speaker on nonprofit leadership and scaling social impact. A lifelong advocate for environmental stewardship, Anne-Marie brings both professional and personal passion to conservation work, including hands-on experience managing a forest restoration project. She holds a degree from Bridgewater State University and completed executive leadership studies in nonprofit management at Harvard Business School. She resides in Somerville and rural Central New York.
