Nick Biemiller leads American Forests’ efforts to advance landscape-scale, collaborative, climate-informed forest restoration through place-based partnerships and workforce development in the Southeast region of the United States, from Virginia to east Texas. In this role, he develops and directs a portfolio of restoration focused field-forestry projects and programmatic collaborations in the region. Nick is a forestry and conservation leader with over 12 years of experience in the Southeast region. He’s passionate about promoting healthy, resilient forests that support wildlife, water, economic development, forest products, conservation, cultural heritage, and recreation. He has a track record developing strong partnerships and programs with government agencies, tribal nations, nonprofit organizations, and private companies to improve forest ecosystem health and resilience. Nick has extensive technical knowledge of landscape scale forest resilience frameworks, and climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. Nick fosters a leadership style that empowers regional and national teams, partner organization collaboration, and promotes creative problem solving and innovative solutions. As a thought leader in forestry and conservation, Nick has served on the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s External Review Panel and the Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture’s Management Board and Executive Committee. He holds a Master of Forestry degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in sustainable forestry from Warren Wilson College.
