Compartment 24

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 21,481
Location: Michigan

The Manistee River watershed was clear cut 35 years ago. There has been little natural regeneration of oaks because of extended dry periods during growing seasons and late season frosts. The Huron-Manistee National Forest in partnership with American Forests will plant 8,000 trees to help restore diverse mix of upland game and non-game species habitats, suitable for Bald eagle and Indiana bat.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
