American Forests partnered with the Hancock County Commissioners and the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District to reforest an old county farm along US 40 East in Greenfield. This land, along with additional funds and labor, was provided by the Hancock County Commissioners and the Hancock County Soil and Water Conservation District also donated labor. The purpose of the reforestation was to demonstrate the use and productivity of marginal ground, generate interest in forestry management and tree planting, and to facilitate educational opportunities. The area will become an outdoor classroom for visits from school groups in Hancock County and for field days to demonstrate management and related topics for young tree plantings.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
