Stevenson and Kennedy Expressway Tree Planting

Year Planted: 2006
Trees Planted: 1,000
Location: Illinois

Through the partnership of American Forests and local tree planting groups 1,000 native conifer trees were planted along the Elgin-O'Hare & Stevenson Expressways to help offset local deforestation and farmland loss from ongoing urban development. The planted forest' will benefit communities adjacent to the urban traffic along the expressway year round. These trees will help absorb noise and air pollution as well as providing communities with an improved aesthetically attractive atmosphere in which to live.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
