Name of Project: Niagra Fire

Location: Stanislaus National Forest, CA

Number of Trees Planted: 16,000

The Central Sierra Nevada Mountains near Stanislaus, California experienced an outbreak of wildfires, specifically in the Summit Ranger District. In collaboration with the U.S. Forest Service, this project will plant 16,000 Jeffrey pine and sugar pine seedlings to help restore 80 acres affected by wildfires. Along with providing much-needed forest coverage, this project plans to develop key habitat and old-forest characteristics that have always been part of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. These efforts to recover the forests lost to wildfires will benefit wildlife habitat and increase recreational opportunities.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
