Name of Project: Day and Zaca Restoration

Location: Los Padres National Forest, CA

Number of Trees Planted: 135,000

This year marks the 75th anniversary of Los Padres National Forest, which is the product of the merger of Santa Barbara and Monterey National Forests. Over the last decade, conifer trees in Los Padres National Forest have been in decline and more recently have been affected by wildfires. American Forests will be helping to plant 135,000 trees in areas that were overcome by the 2006 Day Fire and the 2007 Zaca Fire, which burned through Southern California. This project will be planting a variety of conifer trees to help sustain these forests into the future.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
