Cape Chiniak Reforestation Effort III

Year Planted: 2009
Trees Planted: 55,900
Location: Alaska

The Cape Chiniak Reforestation Effort will restore 2,600 acres of timber lands that were removed in the mid-90s. The area has very little natural regeneration. With help from American Forests and a NRCS EQIP contract this is the third year of a multi-year project. Each year 500 acres are being planted with thousands of sitka spruce seedlings.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
