Project Name: Mile High Tree Champions

Location: Colorado

Number of Trees: 30

The Park People is a nonprofit organization that works to preserve, enhance and advocate for Denver’s parks, recreation resources, open spaces and urban forests. American Forests teamed up with The Park People and its Mile High Tree Champion program to plant 30 trees of mixed species, including large shade trees, in one of Denver’s beloved parks. This planting will enhances the beauty and shade of the park, while also filtering air pollution, absorbing and storing greenhouse gases and providing wildlife habitat. Volunteers provided the labor for the planting and learned about proper tree-planting techniques and benefits that the trees will provide to the community.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
