Project Name: Bur Oak Tree Wildlife Plantings

Location: South Dakota

Number of Trees: 50

South Dakota’s Department of Game, Fish and Parks manages wildlife resources, parks and outdoor recreational opportunities for the benefit of the state’s residents and its visitors. American Forests is working with the agency to enhance wildlife habitat by planting 50 native bur oak trees across three of South Dakota’s Game Production Areas. These plantings will provide deer and wild turkeys with an abundant food source and additional roosting availability for the turkeys. The newly planted bur oaks will also serve as habitat for a variety of other species in the area.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
