This continuing Global ReLeaf project in Honduras began with three main objectives. The first is to support 22 communities in establishing tree plantings in areas of degradation or otherwise of special interest. The second step is preparing these communities with not only this years plantings, but past plantings as well, to maintain the tree plantings to ensure successful reforestation. The last aim for this project is to work with local participating families to improve their food and nutrition through a food security program. The projects first two goals will be supported by Global ReLeaf's grant to plant 35,000 trees in the Santa Barbara District of Honduras.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
