North Flints Ponderosa Pine Restoration

Year Planted: 2010
Trees Planted: 34,000
Location: Montana

This project will plant 34,000 Ponderosa pines over 113 acres in the North Flints ecosystem. The trees planted will be 2-0 bareroot Ponderosa pines, being grown at the Courdalene Nursery. The planting site is an important watershed currently being attacked by mountain pine beetle. This project hopes to reverse the population trend of the Ponderosa pine, while ensuring a healthy watershed and improving the wildlife habitat of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
