The project area was destroyed by a devastating wildfire in the 1950's. The project works with the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Los Angeles County. Benefits of this project include the planting of 2,000 seedlings to improve the recreation use and restoring the trailhead for a National Scenic Trail. The project is located 45 minutes away from downtown LA allowing for people from LA County and the city of LA to visit a popular picnic area near the reforestation project.
