Fire Planting

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 125,000
Location: Idaho

The Clearwater National Forest will plant rust-resistant white pine, ponderosa pine and western larch because these species are declining throughout the region. The plantings will help enhance the species composition and in the long run create an ecosystem more resilient to disturbance such as fire, insects and disease.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
