Woodside Ranch Fire Planting

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 56,000
Location: Oregon

The Woodside Ranch Fire burned through the Deschutes National Forest in August 2007. 56,000 ponderosa pine trees will be planted by the Forest Service in 2008 to restore the burned area and provide wildlife cover in an important deer winter range. The project is 5 miles from Bend, Oregon and is adjacent to an equestrian and hiking trail. The planting will also help to prevent future infestation of invasive plant species.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
