The Power of Trees is a tree grow-out program established in 2002 at the William S Key Correctional Center in partnership with the Wheatland RC&D. Seedlings are planted and nurtured by the inmates for three years then transplanted by towns, cities and schools on public properties to create aesthetically pleasing landscapes and to replace trees lost due to weather, invasive insects and disease. With help from American Forests the RC&D will plant 15,000 and make this a state wide program.
