Cape Chiniak Reforestation Effort

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 125,000
Location: Alaska

The Cape Chiniak Reforestation Effort will restore 2,600 acres of timber lands that were removed in the mid-90s. The area has very little natural regeneration. With help from American Forests and a NRCS EQIP contract this is the second year of a five year project. Each year 500 acres are being planted with 120,000 sitka spruce seedlings.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
