Warm Fire Restoration

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 445,260
Location: Arizona

A lightning strike in 2006 started the Warm Fire, which burned over 39,000 acres. American Forests' partners, Kaibab National Forest, will plant ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir over 1,600 acres to reestablish native conifers and create a seed source for natural regeneration. The conifers will also help establish habitat for the northern goshawk and its prey species.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
