Horseshoe Lake

Year Planted: 2007
Trees Planted: 5,250
Location: Michigan

A 40-year-old red pine plantation, damaged in a 2004 fire, has little hope for natural regeneration from surviving red pines or adjacent oak forests. American Forests is supporting the hand planting of 5,250 white pine and 1,500 northern red oak to help preserve the soil and initiate a native forest.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
