Year Planted: 2006 Trees Planted: 9,500 Location: California
Klamath National Forest, located in the upper reaches of California is continuing reforestation efforts at two different fire sites, which commenced in 2004. 26 acres of forestland will be restored this upcoming spring with native conifer. A total of 9,500 trees were planted at the Creek and East fire sites. The vast majority of the burned areas from five fires were successfully reforested in 2004. With the support of American Forests the planting in 2006 will continue to restore watershed stability and accelerate development of forest habitat for the threatened northern spotted owl.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
