James River Riparian Lands Restoration #2

Year Planted: 2003
Trees Planted: 5,600
Location: Virginia

This is an expansion of the James River Association's (JRA) Riparian Lands Restoration/Protection Program. The program establishes forested buffers along the banks of the James River and its tributaries. It also provides assistance to landowners with conservation easements and implementing erosion control, shoreline improvements, and tree planting programs. The program has contributed significantly to the Chesapeake Bay Program's goal of 2010 miles of vegetated riparian buffers by the year 2010.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
