Minnesota Stewardship Reforestation 01

Year Planted: 2001
Trees Planted: 607,000
Location: Minnesota

While most of American Forests' tree-planting projects occur on public lands, the organization occasionally plants trees on private lands in public projects that are environmentally significant. This unique program planted more than 1 million native hardwoods and softwoods on selected private lands over two years by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the Minnesota Forestry Association. The State of Minnesota and the landowners were also instrumental in the completion of this project. A woodland stewardship plan for each property selected will help improve habitat for fish and other wildlife, protect soil and water and improve the productivity of the forest. A total of 224 landowners participated in the project.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
