Otonabee Conservation Planting Project- Ontario

Year Planted: 2000
Trees Planted: 13,500
Location: Canada

This multi-partner project planted 13,500 spruce, pine and cedar seedlings in Ontario, Canada. The Peterborough District Scouts volunteered to plant the trees, with 1,200 scouts and family members participating. The objective of this project was to reforest marginal land. Additionally, it was hoped that participants would learn about trees in the environment and how trees help improve air and water quality, conserve soil, enhance wildlife and the overall landscape. Partners in this project included Otonabee Conservation, Scouts Canada, Tree Canada Foundation, Otonabee Conservation Foundation, Peterborough County Stewardship Council and Eddie Bauer.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
