The goal of this Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area project is to restore 600 acres of gallery riparian forest, which have been extensively cleared and invaded by aggressive non-native species. Riparian forest habitat has almost entirely disappeared from this stretch of the Columbia River, the Sandy River Delta represents one of the best opportunities in the Portland area to reestablish a large continuous block of dense forest.
