Year Planted: 1999Trees Planted: 80Location: Canada
This project was part of the 'Building Cities of Green' tree planting tour, which commemorated the anniversary of Eddie Bauer's 100th birthday. During the fall of 1999 trees were planted in 6 cites in the U.S. and Canada, including Pitt Meadows, near Vancouver, British Columbia. 80 large trees were planted along a main street to create shade canopy, absorb emissions from vehicles, enhance wildlife habitat, reduce traffic noise and provide traffic calming for safer pedestrian use. Trees were also planted around a new pedestrian plaza adjacent to Pitt Meadows' historic Recreation Hall. A special event was held to plant some of trees and to recognize those involved in the project, including Eddie Bauer, Tree Canada Foundation and representatives from Pitt Meadows.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
