The MD Dept. of Natural Resources-Watershed Restoration Division in cooperation with the Town of Union Bridge proposes to plant 8,750 floodplain species on 37 acres of town property on Little Pipe Creek. It is located in the Double Pipe Creek watershed, and recognized as a priority watershed for non-point nutrient control. The area had been pastured in the past, and still is an open grass field with no woody vegetation stabilizing the stream banks. The need to restore woody vegetation to the stream banks and fencing to stop the sedimentation and nutrients is critical.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
