Trees for Africa

Year Planted: 1995
Trees Planted: 1,000
Location: South Africa

As part of an ongoing partnership between Trees for Africa and American Forests, 1,000 trees were planted in South Africa. The planting was part of a grassroots, capacity building project designed by Trees for African to help the disadvantaged beautify their environment. The goal of TFA is to increase public awareness about trees, and create a real sense of ownership and responsibility for the environment. In addition to tree plantings, TFA focuses on educating the public about environmental stewardship. As they put it as society without trees is like a family without roots, and a house without a garden can never be a home.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
