The James River Association's (JRA) Riparian Lands Restoration Program establishes forested buffers along the banks of the James River and its tributaries. JRA provides assistance to landowners with conservation easements and by implementing erosion control, shoreline improvement, and tree planting programs. This program contributed significantly to the Chesapeake Bay Program goal of establishing 2010 miles of vegetated riparian buffers by the year 2010.
