2004 Spruce Decline Project II

Year Planted: 2008
Trees Planted: 131,000
Location: Wisconsin

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, in partnership with American Forests, will plant 130,000 Jack pine seedlings. The spruce grouse habitat area was deforested due to complex insect, disease and weather related factors. Jack pine is a short needled conifer that the spruce grouse depends on for feeding and nesting cover.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
