The project planted a mixture of 17,000 conifer species on 54 acres deforested by the McNally Fire in 2002. The project purpose is to restore a catastrophically burned old growth stand as soon as possible for its wildlife habitat value. The project is in the Southern Sierra Fisher Conservation Area and is adjacent to an occupied CA spotted owl activity center. Other benefits would be protecting the site quality by reforesting and restoring the natural species composition. The project is located along a major forest road frequented by many forest visitors and hunters.
