As a part of the Rio Salado Riparian System Restoration Project near Socorro, New Mexico, cottonwood and willow poles were installed to help reforest the riparian areas. Through erosion and degradation in New Mexico, native desert riparian tree and plant species have been displaced. This project will restore a cottonwood savannah community and will restore plant and animal communities associated with the southwest desert riparian ecosystem.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
