Nehouse Fire Restoration

Year Planted: 2007
Trees Planted: 24,000
Location: California

74 acres remained to be planted with ponderosa pine and rust-resistant sugar pine to complete reforestation of 150 acres damaged by the 2004 Nehouse Fire. With American Forests help, in 2007 the Sierra National Forest planted 24,000 trees to ensure establishment of a native forest environment instead of one dominated by brush species.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
