Year Planted: 2005 Trees Planted: 82,975 Location: Alabama
This project is a combination of fire rehabilitation, watershed restoration, and ecosystem restoration on sites where the current Loblolly Pine has experienced the ravaging effects of pathogens and insect infestations that were initiated and exacerbated by fires. With the support of American Forests 82,975 longleaf pine were planted in reforestation efforts to restore a healthy forest ecosystem. Many game species such as quail and wild turkey will benefit greatly from improvements to their habitat, and endangered species such as the red cockaded woodpecker will benefit from the long-term improvements to their habitat.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
