Kaluna Cliffs - King Range National Conservation Area

Year Planted: 1997
Trees Planted: 17,400
Location: California

BLM's Arcata Resource area in California planted 17,400 Douglas fir on a 30 acre parcel on the King Range Conservation Area (Kaluna Cliffs). The property was in private ownership when it burned in 1974, was logged and subsequently acquired by the BLM in an unstocked condition. Local school children assisted with the planting. Multiple benefits will result from restoring native forest cover to the parcel.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
