The Withlacoochee State Forest, located west of Orlando, Florida, planted 75,000 longleaf pine on 125 acres. To accomplish this reforestation effort, the exotic Cogongrass that has invaded over 5,000 acres of State land, has to be eradicated. Restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem will provide habitat for many threatened, endangered and sensitive plant and animal species.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
