This project is a combination of fire rehabilitation, watershed restoration, and ecosystem restoration on sites where the current Loblolly Pine has experienced the ravaging effects of pathogens and insect infestations that were initiated and exacerbated by fires. With the support of American Forests 48,000 longleaf pine were planted in reforestation efforts to restore a healthy forest ecosystem. Endangered species such as the red cockaded woodpecker and many game species such as quail and wild turkey will benefit from the long-term improvements to their habitat.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
