In order to restore areas damaged by the Rodeo-Chediski Fire, in 2008 the Forest Service will plant 56,000 ponderosa pines in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. The trees planted will reestablish habitat for the northern goshawk and will be visible from State Highway 260.
