In the fall of 1998, 19,800 trembling aspen seedlings were planted in the city of Calgary. The trees were planted on the Bow Bottom Trail Buffer and at the time the project was the largest single tree planting project to ever occur in Calgary. Benefits of this project include beautification of the city, wildlife habitat enhancement and carbon sequestration. Over 250 volunteers participated, including individuals from Calgary Alternate High School, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Scouts Canada and Alberta Junior Forest Wardens. Additional support for this project was provided by Eddie Bauer, NOVA Chemicals Limited, Tree Canada Foundation and Calgary Parks & Recreation.
