The Bureau of Land Management plans to reclaim three miles of closed access roads by planting 14,500 trees on 5 separate sites totaling about 20 acres. The primary focus of this project is to stabilize topsoil that is highly erodible on abandoned roads, and fill open areas with native vegetation. Douglas-fir will be planted by hand on the sites, along with a mixture of grasses that will quickly provide ground cover and enhance wildlife habitat.
