Project Name: Community Tree Planting in Delaware

Location: Wilmington, DE

Number of Trees: 50

The Delaware Center for Horticulture (TheDCH), located in Wilmington, Del., is a community program that looks to inspire appreciation and improvement of the environment through horticulture, education and conservation. American Forests is working with TheDCH and its Return-to-Work Green Jobs Program to plant 50 trees in the City of Wilmington and in New Castle County. Return-to-Work partners with the Delaware Departments of Correction and Labor to provide individuals with job skills and basic horticulture training. This project will plant trees in areas where residents have agreed to provide tree maintenance and care. The ultimate goal is to increase Delaware’s urban tree canopy to improve energy efficiency, protect air and water quality and enhance economic development.

This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
