Local citizens helped reforest uplands and mountain areas of central Honduras in this project, the results of which will help restore and prevent future damage to the environment and nearby cities. Environmental stewardship depends on a change in attitude by students and their parents, so this project educated school students, their families, and the general population about improved and sustainable land-use practices. This project planted 11,060 trees that will protect critical watersheds and water supplies and will promote sustainable development practices in rural communities.
This project was supported by our corporate partner, the Alcoa Foundation.
