A portion of the area burned in the 1989 Berry Fire on Pike National Forest, Colorado, was planted with 10,000 containerized ponderosa pine, chokecherry, and sumac, some to replace an earlier failed planting. The purpose of the project was to reforest a low-priority timber site, increase wild turkey habitat, use as an educational tool, watershed and recreational area improvement.
