In tribute to anniversary, firm continues tradition of environmental responsibility by funding the planting of 40,000th tree in conjunction with Earth Day 2012

LOS ANGELES, California; April 18, 2012 — Barkley Court Reporters, a privately owned court reporting firm that serves clients from 20 offices worldwide, is celebrating its 40th anniversary as an independent provider of deposition services to law firms and corporate legal departments.

Founded in 1972, Barkley is one of the nation’s oldest and largest independent court reporting firms, providing deposition, transcript, videography, Internet streaming and trial technology services to clients locally and internationally.

“I started our firm in my kitchen and den, alongside my mother, and just hoped to run a good court reporting firm that would be known for its excellent service and professionalism,” said Pat Barkley, founder of Barkley Court Reporters. “Even though we are now a global company with offices worldwide, I’m proud that Barkley has remained grounded in the original foundation of operating as a family-owned business. This 40th anniversary is a great milestone which could have only been possible with the outstanding work and dedication of every member of our team and the trust and loyalty of our clients.”

In tribute to the firm’s 40 years in business, this weekend Barkley Court Reporters is funding the planting of the 40,000th tree since the launching of its unique affiliation with American Forests’ Global ReLeaf Program, in which the firm pays to plant one native tree in a forest restoration project for every deposition taken and paperless transcript purchased by a Barkley client anywhere in the world. The 40,000th tree planting coincides with the 42nd annual worldwide Earth Day celebration on April 22, 2012.

On that day, more than one billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012 and help Mobilize the Earth. People of all nationalities and backgrounds will voice their appreciation for the planet and demand its protection, standing united for a sustainable future and calling upon individuals, organizations and governments to do their part. “Barkley was built on a fundamental commitment to professional integrity and corporate ethics in everything we do, and we remain as committed to those basic principles in our 40th year as we were on our first day,” said Mason Farmani, chief executive officer and managing partner of Barkley Court Reporters. “Our affiliation with American Forests allows us to enlist our valued clients in an important project to preserve natural resources and better protect our environment. We are committed to setting the standards in service and technology as well as being a socially responsible company, as we move into our fifth decade in business.”

Barkley Court Reporters has been at the forefront of the “green business” movement for many years and was the first court reporting company to be certified by a government agency (the City of San Francisco) for making a positive contribution to the environmental well-being of our planet. The firm is also renowned for its leadership in the entertainment industry, providing transcription services to clients such as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Golden Globe Awards and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Emmy Awards.
