Two Rocks Run Fire Area, Sproul State Forest #3

Year Planted: 1996

Trees Planted: 2,500
Location: Pennsylvania

The restocking with red oak, black cherry and white ash continued with the planting of 2,500 seedlings on 25 acres of the Sproul State Forest, Pennsylvania, which was damaged in the 1990 Two Rocks Run fire. Penn ReLeaf, Bucktail High School Environmental Club and Lock Haven High School volunteers planted the seedlings provided by Dept. of Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry. The Hardwood and Plywood Veneer Association also supported the project by helping defray the cost of protective tree shelters needed to guard against deer. Benefits of this project include the reforestation of burned out forests, watershed protection for an area which eventually drains into the Chesapeake Bay and benefits to wildlife.
