First, 35,000 trees will be planted during 2009 with an emphasis on protecting ten fragile water sources in the region. The second purpose is to improve the quality of life for at least 400 families that live in 21 rural communities- eight in Concepcion del Norte, five in Chinda and eight in Quimistan. This will be done directly and indirectly by increasing the levels of nutrition, environmental protection, local revenue generation and community development through a methodology that is based on practical knowledge transfer and empowerment.
