Trinidad Conservation Project #2

Year Planted: 2008

Trees Planted: 44,649
Location: Honduras

Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) focuses on providing agricultural extension training to local families so that reforestation projects go hand in hand with other ways in which the environment can be conserved and the quality of life for families can be improved. The SHI will work with local citizens to reforest uplands and mountain areas of central Honduras. The local citizens will also help maintain the seedlings to insure high survival rates. The results of the reforestation will help restore and prevent future damage to the environment and nearby cities. Environmental stewardship depends on a change in attitude by students and their parents, so a goal of the project is to educate school students, their families, and the general population about improved and sustainable land-use practices.
